Considerable thought went into matching the voice actors with their on-screen characters for At Jesus’ Side, and conveying the actors’ natural qualities in the animal characters’ personalities and mannerisms.
The calm and maternal Petra (Roma Downey), candid and sometimes grumpy teenage Jericho (Lucas Grabeel), wise and perhaps somewhat weary Ulysses (Blu Mankuma), brash and expressive Miguel (Lee Tockar), intelligent and kindhearted Maya (Kathleen Barr) and trustworthy and loving Jesus (Kirby Morrow).
At Jesus’ Side is not a movie with the common fast-paced yelling and overacting, that unfortunately seem to be the “standard” these days. Therefore, the viewer is granted more time and energy to divert their attention to the story, lives and emotions of the characters, rather than being jerked from “zany to wacky” and back again. Nevertheless, there are plenty of funny moments as well – usually caused by Miguel the Chameleon.
